NunthalaKhotang
Nunthala is located in Khotang district of Sagarmatha zone in Nepal. It is situated in the eastern part of Nepal. It lies at an elevation of 2100m above sea level. Total number of population living in this small village is about 4135 with 788 individual households. It is situated about 15 KM far from the capital of Khotang district Diktel. It is one of the underrated tourist destinations in eastern Nepal having lots of potential to attract both national and international tourists.
Nunthala is the perfect destination for those who want to trek but have limited time. There are two routes for trekking in Nunthala. One started from Nunthala(2100m) and ended at Namche Bazaar (3440m). Another started from Halesi(945m) and ended at Nunthala(2100m).
Nunthala to Namche Bazaar Trek
Nunthala to Namche Bazaar is a 4 days trek with lots of adventure and is full of natural beauty. You can start your journey from the capital of Nepal Kathmandu (1300m). You can either hire a jeep or a local bus is also available easily. It is around an 8-9 hours’ drive from Kathmandu to Nunthala. The road after the capital of KhotangDiktel is a bit offroad which makes the journey more interesting.
The actual trek started from Nunthala. For the very first day you can start trekking from Nunthala and end at Kharikhola which takes around 7 hours. Second day trekking starts from Kharikhola to Surke which takes around 7 hours. Third day started from Surke and ended at ChauriKharka which took around 2 and a half hours. Last day of the trek can be started from Chaurikharka and can end at Namche Bazaar. Throughout the trek you will encounter forest, narrow paths with stone decoration, and suspension bridge.
The end of the trek Namche Bazaar is situated in the lap of the Himalayas which is the main attraction of the trek. From there you can observe 360 degree views of the Himalayas if the weather is Fine. The world highest peak Mt Everest (8848.86m) welcomes visitors in Namche Bazaar which melts everyone’s hearts. The unique culture of Sherpa people is also another attraction of this place. After viewing all the beauty of Namche Bazaar you can come back to Kathmandu via Lukla Airport through Lukla Airbus.
Halesi to Nunthala Trek
The Halesi to Nunthala trek can be started from HalesiKhotang. This trek is a short trek having only a 3 day time interval. The trek started from HalesiMaratika caves which have lots of religious value. This cave is 67 feet below the surface having a round shape. This cave is a pilgrimage site for all the people following Hindus, Buddhists and Kirants religion. This cave is situated between two holy rivers (Dud Koshi and Sun Koshi) bearing lots of religious values. Every year lots of pilgrims come to this cave for worship.
Throughout the trek from Halesi to Nunthala we can enjoy the majestic view of Mt Everest which is also known as Sagarmatha. The natural beauty and greenery environment with classic nepali houses makes the trek more interesting.
We can even taste varieties of potatoes grown by the farmer in the village. Most of the people living in these trails belong to the Rai community. The classic house of Rai community, decorated with lots of hanging flowers and warm welcoming of guests, is the best part of the trek from Halesi to Nunthala.
