Shree Antu lies in Illam District in the porovince No.1 of eastern Nepal. It is a tourist destination famous for the view of sunrise. It is believed that in Nepal firstly sunrise begins from here. Shree Antu is an small pleasing village, with largest tea estate, beautiful gardens and alluring mountain view of world’s third highest mountain i.e. Kanchanjunga (8586m). People belonging to different ethnic groups such as Limbu, Tamang, Rai, Lepcha and Magar lives in this area. It consists of the Nepal’s only Lepcha village and famous for Agro-tourism.
It is also famous for the paying guest and home stay. At home stay local people provides the local food items along with Antu tea. Similarly there you can have a wonderful sleep experience in the traditional houses made of wood as well as you can be more familiar with eastern region cultures and traditions which is Shree Antu Eco-cultural tourism destination famous for. Every home stay have it’s separate beautiful garden with different flowers along with Antu special orchid. Antu Danda, Antu Pond, Gufapatal, Mechi River, Nageshwori, Lepcha community and Lepcha museum, Tea and Tea factories, Flowers, are the other major attraction of Shree Antu. Travelers can have a great experience of visiting teagarden, cycling and horse riding, exploring the overall tea production process through tea factory visit.
From the middle of the autumn i.e October to the begining of the spring i.e March is the best time to visit Shree Antu. While, monsoon i.e june-september is recognized as an unfavourable time to travel because rainfall occurs in this period resulting in a high humidity which ultimately hinders the clear view.
