Dhankuta

Dhankuta is situated in Dhankuta district of province 1 in Nepal. Dhankuta is  a small hill town, predominantly a Newari town is a place nobody wants to miss out on exploring while visiting Eastern Nepal. It is the district administrative headquarter of the Dhankuta district and also was the headquarter of Koshi Zone in past. According to the 2011 Nepal census, the city has a population of 26,440. The lower half of the town, consits of all the administrative works and offices and has been paved up to the police station and is reasonably active. However, the upper half of the town is quieter and more picturesque, lined with whitewashed, tiled and carved Newari townhouses

Altitude:

It is located at an altitude of 1150 meter from the sea level.

Climate:

Dhankuta is 1150 meter above  sea level, Dhankuta’s climate is classified as warm and temperate.

In winter there is much less rainfall then in summer.

The temperature are highest on average in August, at around 23.5 degrees Celsius/74.3  degree Fahrenheit.

In January the average temperature is 12.1 degree Celsius/53.8 Degree Fahrenheit.It is the lowest average temperature of the whole year.

How to reach:

The distancebetween Kathmandu and dhankuta is 217 kilometer. There are two ways to reach dhankuta one is by flight and another is by bus. You can also hire private vehicle it takes 8 hours drive from Kathmandu to dhankuta and 35 35 minutes by air/flight.

Facilities:

Those travelling to dhankuta will definitely enjoy the sights to see and the things to do. There are more than 15+ hotels and other accommodation options in the surrounding areas.

There is also a proper transportation facilities,person can either use local transport that is bus taxi etc or can also hire private vehicle to travel within the area.

Sight seeings:

There are many places you can visit and enjoy in dhankuta.Some of the famous places of this area are Bhedetar, Jalpadevi Temple, Rajarani, Hile and Pakhribas.
Bhedetar; Charles Point, it is a Gateway to Dhankuta and Panchthar.
Hile is Famous for the scenic beauty and the panoramic view of Sagarmatha (Mt Everest), Malakhu, Lotshe and Kumbhakarna mountains and you can also enjoy the beautiful sunset view.
RajaRani Valley it is the capital of Limbu Kingdom and RajaRani Pond.
Uttarpani is famous for Rhododendron forest, ponds and pasture lands.
Pakhribas is mostly an agricultural firm.
You can also enjoy the view of beautiful Namaste waterfall, Jalpa Devi Temple.
From Dhoje hill you can get a view of all 16 districts of Eastern cities.
The Banyan Tree; is believed to be the largest banyan tree of Asia.
Dhankuta is famous for its orange groves and leafy scenery with the mountain streams, their crystal clear waters and the green pine and oak forests. It also serves as the base for trekking in the Kanchenjunga region. Dhankuta is recognized as capital of Avocado & Green Tea Production. It is one of the best place to spend the vacation and enjoy the beautiful view of the nature.
