Mount Pumori is a beautiful mountain that has pyramid-shaped and is located in the upper Khumbu region of Nepal. It is also the border of Nepal and Tibet and is located in the spectacular Himalayan range. The height of Mt. Pumori is 7161 m.
The meaning of Pumori in the Sherpa language is “unmarried daughter” and the name of this mountain was given by George Leigh Mallory. This expedition is one of the best expeditions for those who wish to climb a 7000 m peak.
Best time for the expedition:
The best months for an expedition are March, April, May, October, and November. Other months are not usually preferred for this expedition because of the unstable weather.
Criteria for the expedition:
Mt. Pumori is a serious and difficult expedition peak that is only designed for experienced climbers. It is considered as one of the challenging expeditions and those who want to climb this mountain must have an excellent fitness level and knowledge of altitude sickness. Before planning for this expedition, practice using the technical tools, take strength and aerobic training etc.
You should be physically and mentally prepared and must have a faultless physical condition to climb this mountain. This climbing is the perfect choice for those who want to climb Mount Everest or 8000 m peak as it provides practice.
Itinerary:
As soon as you reach Kathmandu you have 2 days to stay and explore the city. Then, the next day you will take a flight to Lukla and trek to Padhking and then to Namche. You will have acclimatization day on Namche Bazaar and the next day you head towards Tengboche then to Dingboche and Lobuche. Again, you will have one acclimatization day, and the next day you trek to Pumori base camp and finally climb Mt Pumori.
There are altogether 3 camps, to reach camp 1 you have to climb from the glacier, camp 1 is at 5700 m altitude. From camp 1 you have to climb the extreme slopes to reach camp 2, and from camp 2 you have to climb slopes, ice walls and you reach camp 3 (6480 m). Finally, you climb to Pumori summit and return the same way to Lukla and fly to Kathmandu. A brief itinerary is given below:
Day 1: Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu
Day 2: Explore Kathmandu city
Day 3: Prepare for an expedition
Day 4: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla(2850m) and then trek from Lukla to Phading
Day 5: Trek from Phading to Namche Bazaar(3340m)
Day 6: Acclimatization day on Namche Bazaar and explore wonderful Namche bazaar
Day 7: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche(3860m).
Day 8: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche(4410m).
Day 9:Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche(4940m).
Day 10: Acclimatization day at Lobuche
Day 11: Trek from Lobuche to Pumori base camp (5700m)
Day 12 to Day 29: Climbing from Pumori base camp to Pumorisummit(7161m)
Day 30: Cleaning the base camp and return to Luboche
Day 31: Trek from Luboche to Dingboche
Day 32: Trek from Dingboche to Namche Bazaar
Day 33: Trek from Namche back to Lukla
Day 34: Fly from Lukla back to Kathmandu
Day 35: Explore and rest in Kathmandu
Day 36: departure

This is a 35-day expedition where you explore amazing and mesmerizing mountain range views, glaciers, Tibetan monasteries, fantastic views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse including other mountains. You can explore the Sherpa culture and can learn about the lifestyle of the local people in the Himalayas region. The beauty of nature like different wildlife, varied flora and fauna like Rhododendron, pine etc. can also be witnessed in the trail. This is one of the challenging and lifetime experience expeditions. This is also a perfect expedition who wants to climb Mt. Everest and experienced climbers.
